210505-N-VG727-1156 ARABIAN GULF (May 5, 2021) – An Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technician assigned to Commander, Task Force (CTF) 56 retrieves a Mark 18 Mod 2 underwater unmanned vehicle during training aboard a Mark VI patrol boat in the Arabian Gulf, May 5. CTF 56 is responsible for planning and execution of expeditionary missions, in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations and is deployed in support of naval operations to ensure maritime stability and security in the Central Region, connecting the Mediterranean Sea and Pacific Ocean through the Western Indian Ocean and three strategic chokepoints to the free flow of global commerce.
