Spur Ride cadre, 115th Brigade Support Battalion, 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team “IRONHORSE,” 1st Cavalry Division, provide motivation and oversight for Spur Candidate Group Four during a Spur Ride in Skwierzyna, Poland, May 6, 2021. The Order of the Spur is a cavalry tradition within the United States Army. Soldiers serving with cavalry units (referred to as "troopers") are inducted into the Order of the Spur after completing a Spur Ride or for having served during combat as a member of or with a cavalry unit. Cavalry troopers deployed to Poland have taken time to earn their spurs while deployed on this year’s Atlantic Resolve rotation. Atlantic Resolve is an operation that consists of multinational training exercises and security cooperation activities conducted by maneuver elements throughout Eastern European countries, including Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, and Bulgaria.
