Sentinels from the 3d U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) stand guard and conduct the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia, May 6, 2021.
Starting May 4 through May 21, the Sentinels from the 3d Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) will modify their watch and stand guard on the east side of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Visitors will still be able to see the changing of the guard ceremony from the bottom of the steps on the mall instead of the Memorial Amphitheater steps.
Due to a short term preservation project with the granite pavers surrounding the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Arlington National Cemetery is temporarily closing the TUS plaza.
ANC is celebrating the Centennial Commemoration of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, and restoration and preservation work continues at The Memorial Amphitheater and the Tomb plaza to ensure the heart of the cemetery remains the iconic symbol of service and sacrifice, mourning.
The changing of the guard ceremony will still take place at the top and bottom of every hour.
