210510-N-WQ732-3012 ARABIAN GULF (May 10, 2021) – Guided-missile cruiser USS Monterey (CG 61) transits the Strait of Hormuz in formation with guided-missile submarine USS Georgia (SSGN 729), left, patrol coastal ships and Coast Guard patrol boats assigned to Commander, Task Force (CTF) 55, May 10. Monterey is operating with the IKE Carrier Strike Group while deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations in support of naval operations and providing airpower to protect U.S. and coalition forces as they conduct drawdown operation from Afghanistan.
