U.S. Air Force Tech Sgt. Clinton Vaughn, an aircraft structural maintenance specialist assigned to the 165th Maintenance Group, Georgia National Guard, prepped and painted two small areas of one of our 165th Airlift Wing C-130 Hercules planes with a new paint formula, per the request of the Air Force corrosion protection department, that is designed to be more durable and more environmentally friendly. For the next 9 months, this aircraft will be flown as normal and inspected every 30 days by our maintenance personnel to check the paints durability and ensure it's corrosion protection qualities hold up to the Air Force standard. As long as the monthly inspections go well, the end goal is that our unit and other C-130 units across the country would be able to paint their planes with this new formula.
