MCGHEE TYSON AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE, Tenn. -- Officer candidates stand enrolled in the Officer Preparatory Academy at the Air National Guard’s professional military education center on McGhee Tyson Air National Guard Base in East Tennessee. OPA started in April 1971. The name changed to the Academy of Military Science in 1973. AMS left the I.G.
