Maintenance members with the Regional Rivers Repair Fleet out of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Huntington District wait for a pump to remove water from a dewatering box May 21, 2021 that is anchored to the lock wall at Cheatham Lock in Ashland City, Tennessee. It made it possible for the maintenance crew to work in dry conditions. They were working in between lockages of Marathon Petroleum Company fuel barges. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District worked with the fuel industry and Regional Rivers Repair Fleet, which is performing maintenance at the lock, to schedule openings to accommodate barges moving up and down the Cumberland River fueling Middle Tennessee in the wake of a recent gas shortage.
