Maj. Gen. Mark Weatherington, the 8th Air Force and Joint-Global Strike Operations Center commander, inspects a 3D printed B-1B Lancer part during his visit to Ellsworth Air Force Base, S.D., May 4, 2021. The part was created in the 28th Maintenance Squadron Metals Technology shop using low cost non-metallic material to demonstrate a proof of concept using multi-axis machining techniques to replicate B-1 parts that are no longer manufactured.
