Hermes assumes command of Headquarters & Service Battalion, Fleet Marine Force Atlantic, U.S. Marine Corps Forces Command, U.S. Marine Corps Forces Northern Command from U.S. Marine Corps Col. Mark R. Reid during a change of command ceremony at the Camp Elmore gymnasium in Norfolk, Virginia. The passing of colors is performed at change of command ceremonies to symbolize the transfer of command authority and responsibility from the incumbent commanding officer to the new commanding officer.
