U.S. Army Reserve firefighters from the 416th Theater Engineer Command conducted firefighting apparatus training at Fort McCoy, Wis. on May 21. The course focused on National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Driver/Operator-Pumper, Mobile Water Supply Driver/Operator, and Air Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) Apparatus Driver/Operator skills.
The certified classes focused on the minimum job performance requirement for U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) firefighters who drive and operate fire apparatus. Combination of classroom and hands-on training focused on how to safely drive/operate, inspect, maintain and proper positioning of the firefighting apparatus for effective application of extinguishing agents and rescue operations.
The training was facilitated by instructors from the Illinois Fire Service Institute at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
