U.S. Marine Corps Capt. John Clauss, an infantry officer with 2d Marine Division (MARDIV), runs during a physical fitness test as part of the Division Leadership Assessment Program (DLAP) on Camp Lejeune, N.C., June 15, 2021. DLAP assesses the preparedness of 2d MARDIV's newly-assigned infantry captains by evaluating their mental, moral, and physical readiness for infantry company command, ensuring the division places the right leaders in front of the right companies at the right time. DLAP is a key component in the division’s mission to train and certify units that demonstrate apex levels of lethality, endurance, and comprehensive warfighting ability to be employed by their gaining higher headquarters immediately upon deployment.
