PHILIPPINE SEA (June 16, 2021) Aviation Boatswain’s Mate (Handling) Airman Timothy Holguin, from Las Cruces, N.M., assigned to the forward-deployed amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6), searches for hotspots on an F-35B Lightning II fighter aircraft from the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) during a firefighting drill in the ship’s hangar bay. America, lead ship of the America Amphibious Ready Group, along with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, is operating in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
