SAN DIEGO (June 23, 2021) Soli Lawson records herself reading to her grandchildren in a United Through Reading mobile reading station at Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command (NMRTC) San Diego June 23. United Through Reading is a non-profit organization that allows service members to record themselves reading a book at story stations and upload the recording to United Through Reading's online cloud. From there, family members can access the recordings via an online portal. NMRTC San Diego’s mission is to prepare service members to deploy in support of operational forces, deliver high quality healthcare services and shape the future of military medicine through education, training and research. NMRTC San Diego employs more than 6,000 active duty military personnel, civilians, and contractors in Southern California to provide patients with world-class care anytime, anywhere.
