Idaho Army National Guard soldiers from B Company begin to prepare their tanks for travel out into the field for their two-week annual training exercise.
With Charlie Company of the 2-116th Combined Arms Battalion nearly through their two-week annual training, B Company of the 2-116th arrived at the Maneuver Area Training Equipment Site, gateway to the the Orchard Combat Training Area, to draw and prepare their Abrams Tanks and move out into the field.
B Company entered their training phase this summer with a primary goal of building on vehicle and crew proficiency. The Idaho Army National Guard’s COVID-19 Task Force drew on soldiers and airmen from the Idaho National Guard to fulfill their state-wide mission this year. Several soldiers serving on the task force came from the tank crews of B Company, presenting a challenge to crew cohesion and familiarity. New tank crews were put together to fill the gaps. The result was 100% of the crews moving through the gunnery portion of training were qualified and they were the first tank company to successfully navigate and complete the new DAGIR range course on the OCTC.
