Sailors assigned to Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit (EODMU) 1 pull an inert mine shape to a transition buoy for final beaching operations during a Certification Exercise (CERTEX) on Naval Air Station Whidbey Island in Oak Harbor, Washington, May 21, 2021. The CERTEX qualifies EODMU-1 for operational deployments where they enable fleet and joint forces to execute a full spectrum of military operations. EODMU-1 is a critical part of Navy Expeditionary Combat Force that clears explosive hazards to provide access to denied areas, secures the undersea domain for freedom of maneuver, builds and fosters relationships with capable and trusted partners, and protects the homeland.
