“I am immensely proud of what U.S. Army South has achieved these last two years,” said Maj. Gen. Daniel Walrath after he relinquished command of U.S. Army South at Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston on June 30. “I think how we did it and what we did is just as important to consider. The Army South team trusted each other. When I arrived here two years ago, I had no experience in the region, so I trusted the regional experience and expertise in Army South to help me understand what was most important in our mission. You trusted my judgement to move our mission in your direction. We trusted each other throughout the pandemic to take care of each other, while figuring out how to safely execute our mission tasks.”
