Joshua Toney, a forensic archaeologist with the Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command, records field information and coordinates for a grid unit he plans to profile while conducting recovery operations at a remote site in Ha Tinh, Vietnam. Toney was the recovery leader for a 12-person recovery team deployed from Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii, alongside seven other teams from the Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command. The teams searched for information on more than 65 Americans lost during the Vietnam War. The Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command conducts global search, recovery and laboratory operations to identify unaccounted-for Americans from past conflicts in order to support the Department of Defense's personnel accounting efforts.
