U.S. Naval Academy midshipmen yell instructions to incoming freshman during Induction Day 2012. I-Day begins when the incoming plebes are issued uniforms, given medical examinations, complete registration, receive haircuts and learn to salute. Approximately 1,190 young men and women arrived at the Naval Academy's Alumni Hall for Induction Day. More than 20,500 applied to be members of the Class of 2016 - a record for the academy.
