John Blumling, FRCE F-35 electrical work lead, demonstrates FRCE’s current manual process of cleaning fiber cables. To clean fiber optics, an artisan aligns the cleaning tool with the cable connector and runs a piece of floss across the end of each fiber strand. A robotic system would allow for a more precise alignment of the cleaning tool to the fiber strands.
