Staff Sgt. Jason Moore, 95th Chemical Company, 6th Engineer Battalion, calls in a standard 9-line UXO report after his convoy discovers a mock roadside improvised explosive device (IED) during battle drills at the Infantry Squad Battle Course, JBER-Richardson, September 25, 2012. The small unit’s ability to accomplish its mission often depends on the Soldiers’ ability to execute key actions quickly with minimal leader commands. During the exercise, soldiers were exposed to various mock scenarios requiring them to react to contact, react to ambush, react to and report mock IEDs, and conduct key leader engagements.
