U.S. Marines and Sailors aboard USS Germantown (LSD 42) heave around on the refueling hose during a replenishment-at-sea (RAS) in the Pacific Ocean, July 8, 2021. A RAS allows vessels to obtain essential goods without pulling into port so that they can continue operations within their assigned areas. The 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit is operating aboard ships of the America Expeditionary Ready Group in the U.S. 7th fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
