Marine Corps Installations Pacific and Marine Corps Air Station Futenma welcomed visitors from the Okinawa Prefectural Government, the City of Ginowan, and the Japanese Government for an onsite brief of the perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substance (PFAS) Effluent Treatment System (PETS). PETS utilizes proven, mature ion exchange technology to remove PFAS from water which results in water that meets Japanese Environmental Guidelines for drinking water.
