Maj. Gen. Todd Hunt, right, the North Carolina Adjutant General and chairman of the Army National Guard Aviation Readiness Council, enters the cockpit of a UH-60V Black Hawk helicopter at the Huntsville, Al. International Airport July 13 for a demonstration flight of the aircraft. Assisting Hunt with the flight are pilots Greg Shirley, left, and Chuck Landing. Hunt and several senior Army National Guard Aviation Officers were in Huntsville to receive an informational update on the UH-60V program before the aircraft becomes part of the ARNG fleet, with the first aircraft scheduled to be fielded the last week of July. The UH-60V, a retrofit UH-60L model, includes many updates, most notably a modernized glass cockpit similar to that found in the UH-60M. PEO Aviation’s Utility Helicopters Project Management Office will begin deliveries to the Eastern Area ARNG Aviation Training Site, Fort Indiantown Gap, Pa. which will become the first unit equipped with the helicopters.
