U.S. Marines and Sailors from across 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing (MAW) depart in the SS Curtis in lieu of the Advanced Naval Basing evolution of Summer Fury 21 at Naval Base San Diego, California, July 14, 2021. SS Curtiss (T-AVB 4) will function as a logistic supply ship and a friendly Naval vessel that will provide additional AC2 nodes that will allow 3rd MAW evaluate the concepts of distributed Command and Control (C2) and Marine Corps Mission Essential Tasks (METs).
