U.S. Marines with Battalion Landing Team 3/5, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), perform machine gun training on an M240 machine gun aboard the amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6), July 8, 2021. Marines conduct weapons sustainment training to maintain proficiency when handling the M240 machine gun. The 31st MEU is operating aboard ships of Expeditionary Strike Group 7 in the 7th fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
