Culinary Specialist 2nd Class Tyler Neff, from Lehighton, Pennsylvania, assigned to USS Gerald R. Ford’s (CVN 78) supply department, participates in the Operation Red Wing challenge, July 18, 2021. The fitness challenge honors the lives of 19 warriors who made the ultimate sacrifice on June 27, 2005, in Kunar Province, Afghanistan. Ford is underway in the Atlantic Ocean conducting Full Ship Shock Trials. The U.S. Navy conducts shock trials of new ship designs using live explosives to confirm that our warships can continue to meet demanding mission requirements under the harsh conditions they might encounter in battle.
