U.S. Marines Corps Master Sgt. Ian Borge, weapons company operations chief, and Cpl. Mitchell Thomas, an antitank missile gunner, with Battalion Landing Team 3/5, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), prepare for a course of fire aboard the USS New Orleans (LPD 18) in the Solomon Sea, July 14, 2021. Battalion Landing Team 3/5 regularly conducts live fire drills to maintain maritime readiness and sustain proficiency with multiple weapons systems. The 31st MEU is operating aboard ships of the America Expeditionary Strike Group in the 7th fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners, and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
