U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Steven Neal, assigned to 2nd Battalion, 377th Parachute Field Artillery Regiment, Task Force 4-25, is awarded the Purple Heart on Forward Operating Base Salerno, Khost province, Afghanistan, Sept. 12, 2012. Neal was injured on June 1 when a 2,000 pound vehicle-borne improvised explosive device exploded near his location on FOB Salerno.
