U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Justin McDavid, a loadmaster with the 167th Airlift Wing, tightens a chain securing a U.S. Army High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) vehicle with B Battery, 1st Battalion, 623rd Field Artillery Regiment, Kentucky National Guard onto a C-17 Globemaster III aircraft with the 167th after a simulated firing exercise at Shepherd Field Air National Guard Base, Martinsburg, West Virginia, July 20, 2021, as part of Sentry Storm 2021. Sentry Storm, a joint training exercise hosted by the West Virginia Air National Guard, focuses on Agile Combat Employment (ACE) concepts allowing participants to hone skills needed to prevail over near-peer competitors. A variety of aircraft including C-130 Hercules, C-17 Globemasters, A-10 Thunderbolts, and MH-60 Seahawks participated in the exercise and events included dirt landing zone operations, airdrops, sling load operations, aeromedical evacuation, and forward operating base ground training.
