Pfc. Beatriz Lopez, an M1 Armor Crewman assigned to 3rd Battalion, 66th Armored Regiment, 1st Infantry Division, conducts maintenance checks on an M1 Abrams in Pabrade, Lithuania, July 26, 2021. Lopez, originally from Cuba, came to the U.S. in 2014 where she decided to pursue a dental career. In 2019, she wanted to continue the same career in the U.S. Army but was offered a much different opportunity; to become a 19K (M1 Armor Crewman). Lopez said she is proud to be a tanker.
“Working in tanks and being a driver or any other position in the tank is very fun and even when you have a lot of responsibilities, you always enjoy and learn something new about it,” Lopez said. “I work with excellent crew members and we always try to support and help each other and it makes me feel like family.”
Lopez, along with other members of the 1st Infantry Division, recently arrived in Europe to begin a 9-month rotation in support of Atlantic Resolve. Atlantic Resolve helps build readiness, increase interoperability and enhance the bond between ally and partner militaries using multinational training events. (U.S. Army photo by 1st Lt.
