After landing on a small butte overlooking the gunnery range, soldiers from the 183rd Helicopter Assault Battalion begin preparing for gunnery qualifications.
The Idaho Army National Guards 183rd Helicopter Assault Battalion took to the desert landscape of the Orchard Combat Training Center for their 2021 Annual Training.
Lt.Col. Nicole Washington, commander of the 183rd, described the units annual training performance as representative of the character of Army Aviation - “after the adversity of the last year, every single soldier gave 110 percent.” The 183rd training for their 10-day field exercise included UH-60 door gunner training, a tactical jump, crew serve weapons qualification and finished up with a multi-aircraft air assault mission. All exercises took place in the filed, operating out of a forward area encampment and operations facility.
