Peter Ehlers as commodore of Destroyer Squadron (DESRON) 40 at a change of command ceremony on board Naval Station Mayport, Aug. 2, 2021. DESRON 40, part of U.S. Naval Forces Southern Command/U.S. 4th Fleet, provides dedicated tactical support to naval operations in the U.S. Southern Command’s area of responsibility.
