Potter was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps medal, the highest non-combat decoration, for actions of heroism on Sept. 13, 2020, while hiking to Ta-Taki Falls in Kunigami, Okinawa, where he saved a woman and her child from drowning during a flash flood. 3d MLG, based out of Okinawa, Japan, is a forward deployed combat unit that serves as III Marine Expeditionary Force’s comprehensive logistics and combat service support backbone for operations throughout the Indo-Pacific area of responsibility.
