U.S. Air Force Capt. Austin Sewell, 389th Fighter Squadron assistant director of maintenance, deployed from Mountain Home Air Force Base, Idaho, stands in for a crew chief during preflight inspections at the Tinian International Airport, Tinian, Aug. 2, 2021, during Pacific Iron 21. Throughout Pacific Iron 21, members trained in Multi-capable Airmen tasks by learning new concepts and roles in order to become fully mission capable with less people in austere locations. Approximately 800 Airmen and 35 aircraft are participating in Pacific Air Forces’ dynamic force employment operation July 11 to Aug. 8, 2021, in Guam and Tinian to project forces into U.S. Indo-Pacific Command’s area of responsibility in support of the 2018 National Defense Strategy, calling on the military to be a more lethal, adaptive and resilient force.
