AGAT, Guam (Aug. 9, 2021) - Sailors from USS Emory S. Land (AS-39) and visiting Marines of Combat Logistics Regiment 17 (CLR-17) volunteered at the Agat Mayor’s Office to sort and package food commodities as part of the Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP), Aug. 9. In turn village mayor’s distribute the commodities to families in need and affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Volunteers packaged 400 bags of food commodities, which included items such as beans, rice, pasta, canned fruits, sauces, and canned meats.
The commodities are made possible through, the Guam Department of Education via the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Nutrition Service.
CLR-17 is in Guam as part of exercise Freedom Banner.
