A U.S. Navy aviation boatswain’s mate guides a U.S. Marine Corps CH-53E with Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 265 (Reinforced), 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), as it lands aboard the amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6), during Talisman Sabre 21 on July 24, 2021. The CH-53E provides combatant commanders with extended range and heavy-lift capabilities for a wide range of missions. Australian and U.S. forces combine biannually for Talisman Sabre, a month-long multi-domain exercise that strengthens allied and partner capabilities to respond to the full range of Indo-Pacific security concerns. The 31st MEU is operating aboard ships of America Expeditionary Strike Group in the 7th fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
