Staff Sgt. Deshawn Acres, a maintainer with the 552nd Maintenance Operations Squadron, checks the E-3 Airborne Warning and Control Systems aircraft engine during a preflight check to get it ready for flight during Red Flag 21-3. The annual training takes place July 19 through Aug. 6, 2021, at Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada. Red Flag provides aircrews the experience of multiple, intensive air combat sorties in the safety of a training environment. The training takes place on the Nevada Test and Training Range, the U.S. Air Force’s premier military training area with more than 12,000 square miles of airspace and 2.9 million acres of land. Nellis is the last stop before warfighters meet adversaries on the battlefield. (Air Force photo by Kimberly Woodruff)
