Officer Development School (ODS) class 21070 students perform damage control procedures during training at Officer Training Command Newport (OTCN), Rhode Island, Aug. 9. The wet trainer simulation, also known as the “USS Buttercup,” provides students damage control experience in shoring, plugging, patching, and dewatering. ODS provides staff corps officers and several restricted line designators with the training necessary to prepare them to function in their role as newly commissioned Naval officers.
