U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Libby Dewal, a platoon sergeant with 1st Intelligence Battalion, I Marine Expeditionary Force Information Group, receives a Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal from Lt. Col. Thomas A. Kulisz, the commanding officer of 1st Intelligence Battalion, during an award ceremony at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California, August 11, 2021. Dewal ensured the safety of a stabbed victim from the assailant outside her residence and used her Marine Corps Martial Arts belt as a tourniquet on the victim's arm to stop the arterial bleeding.
