AGAT, Guam (Aug. 13, 2021) - Sailors from USS Emory S. Land (AS 39) and visiting Marines of Combat Logistics Regiment 17 (CLR-17) volunteered at the Agat Mayor’s Office to distribute 400 food commodity packages as part of the Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP), Aug. 12.
The commodities are made possible through, the Guam Department of Education via the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Nutrition Service and are distributed by village mayors to families in need and affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
On Aug. 9, volunteers from the Land and CLR 17 packaged the 400 bags of food commodities, which included items such as beans, rice, pasta, canned fruits, sauces, and canned meats.
CLR-17 is in Guam as part of exercise Freedom Banner.
