Currently a second grade teacher and recent graduate of University of Minnesota with a master’s degree in elementary education, 2nd. Lt. Gabriela Marick is extremely passionate about teaching her students and junior enlisted Soldiers to become more resilient with what life may throw at them.
Marick, a human resources officer with the 147th Human Resource Company of the Minnesota National Guard and a native of Maple Grove, Minnesota, said she would like her platoon to learn more basic Soldier skills during Combat Support Training Exercise (CSTX) at Fort McCoy, Wisconsin, on Aug. 14, 2021
“This [CSTX] is huge. We don’t get this training all the time,” Marick said. “As human resources, we don’t always get to practice tactical skills like security, tactical operations center (TOC) or Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) operations.”
When she first joined the 147th HRC, Marick said she noticed many fellow lieutenants. They all helped her with learning how to develop her skills to progress herself and how to get around. She hopes to do the same with fellow Soldiers. Both jobs require a lot of interaction, taking care of people and management.
