U.S. Marines with Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron (VMM) 265 (Reinforced), 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), monitor a CH-53E Super Stallion as it prepares to conduct fast-rope training aboard the amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6), in the Solomon Sea on Aug. 6, 2021. Marines train to fast-rope in case they are required to depart from an aircraft in a timely manner or a possible landing on uneven terrain. The 31st MEU is operating aboard ships of America Expeditionary Strike Group in the 7th fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
