Steven Landspurg, an Oak Ridge Institute of Science and Education research fellow who is completing a fellowship at the U.S. Army Research Institute of Environmental Medicine, collects blood samples from volunteers during an altitude study in Taos Ski Valley, New Mexico. Analyzing blood and other fluids might help USARIEM researchers understand why some individuals are at high risk of experiencing acute mountain sickness.
