Lt. Gen. Laura J. Richardson, the commanding general of U.S. Army North and the Joint Force Land Component Command, awards a coin for excellence to Sgt. Taylor Douglas, a Bradley Fighting Vehicle System Maintainer assigned to the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division at Doña Ana Complex near Fort Bliss, Texas, Aug. 24, 2021. The Department of Defense, through U.S. Northern Command, and in support of the Department of State and Department of Homeland Security, is providing transportation, temporary housing, medical screening, and general support for up to 50,000 Afghan evacuees at suitable facilities, in permanent or temporary structures, as quickly as possible.
