A U.S. Army Soldier, assigned to Task Force Volk, made up of Active and Guard personnel from 28 different states led by a Dual-Status Commander carries the luggage of an Afghan off a plane at Volk Air Field, Wisconsin, Aug. 29, 2021. The Department of Defense, in support of the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of State, is providing transportation and temporary housing for Operation Allies Refuge. This initiative follows through on America’s commitment to Afghan personnel who have helped the United States, and provides them essential support at secure locations outside Afghanistan.
