Operation Allies Welcome - Operation Allies Refuge

Spc. Christian Flores, a cable systems installer-maintainer with Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, uses a crimping tool to remove part of the sheath surrounding an RJ45 wire in order to fit them into the connector for use at Fort Bliss’ Doña Ana Complex in New Mexico, Sept. 12, 2021. This critical asset enables units supporting Operation Allies Welcome to have communication capabilities in order to continue assisting the Afghan evacuees across the installation. The Department of Defense, through U.S. Northern Command, and in support of the Department of Homeland Security, is providing transportation, temporary housing, medical screening, and general support for at least 50,000 Afghan evacuees at suitable facilities, in permanent or temporary structures, as quickly as possible. This initiative provides Afghan personnel essential support at secure locations outside Afghanistan. (U.S. Army photo by Sgt. Christina Westover, 24th Theater Public Affairs Support Element)
