On Sept. 1, 2021, the United States Army Europe & Africa Band & Chorus played alongside Bulgaria’s very own 2nd Light Infantry Band led by Capt. Tsvetomir Rashkov Vasilev on the 2021 Stronger Together tour. Before the concert began, U.S. Army Lt. Col. Randall Bartel, commander of the band, gifted the first ever USAREUR-AF Band challenge coin and a framed picture of the entire group.
Sgt. 1st Class Stephen Reier, a musician in the band, designed the coin. “It is only fitting that we present our fellow service members, allies, and partner nations with a token symbolic of our professional organization,” said Reier. “I took great pride in designing a coin that helps ensure the enduring legacy that the United States Army instills through musical excellence.
