U.S. Army Pfc. Daryl Johnson, an armorer assigned to 1st Battalion, 506th Infantry Regiment, and Pfc. Hunter Burton, an M240 gunner assigned to 1st Battalion, 506th Infantry Regiment, post medical appointment schedules for Afghan individuals before a town hall meeting in order to enhance the overall health and safety of the community on Fort Pickett, Virginia, Sept. 19, 2021. The town hall provides an opportunity for Afghan individuals to engage with Task Force Pickett personnel and learn about upcoming events within the community. The Department of Defense, through U.S. Northern Command, and in support of the Department of Homeland Security, is providing transportation, temporary housing, medical screening, and general support for at least 50,000 Afghan evacuees at suitable facilities, in permanent or temporary structures, as quickly as possible. This initiative provides Afghan personnel essential support at secure locations outside Afghanistan. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Cpl. Eric Ramirez)
