Chaplain (CPT) Emil J. Kapaun’s remains arrive at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church Sep. 25 at Pilsen, Kansas. Chaplain Kapaun last visited his hometown in December of 1949 before heading to Korea as part of Headquarters Company, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division. Father Kapaun was taken as a prisoner of war by Chinese forces on Nov. 2, 1950, his remains were identified by the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency on March 2, 2021.
