The Honorable Meredith Berger, Under Secretary of the Navy (UNSECNAV), right, receives a brief from Capt. Jeremy Shamblee, USS Gerald R. Ford's (CVN 78) executive officer, during a ship visit, Sept. 24, 2021. During the visit, Berger met with Ford leadership and toured several spaces to gain a better understanding of Ford's capabilities. Ford is inport at Newport News Shipyard executing her Planned Incremental Availability (PIA), a six-month period of modernization, maintenance, and repairs.
